Volunteering at Mary's
Mercy Center brings to mind the Servanthood of Our Lord Jesus and what
he taught us about serving each other. He tells us that there is no greater
work than serving one another and to serve in humility. Jesus gave us
the example of Servanthood and instructed us that humility is the essence
of serving. Here at Mary's Mercy Center, you have a chance to experience
the kind of Servanthood that Jesus talks about. We have three beliefs
concerning:
Never judge the persons
we serve;
Always strive to see Jesus in the persons we serve;
Treat those we serve as if they were a guest in your home;
We receive more in serving than we give.
There are flexible
hours and days to choose from: We are open for full service to the poor
and homeless four days a week - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Weekends we are open for lunch only. You can chose to work all day or
just the morning or afternoon schedule. We are closed on Fridays.
Volunteers range in age from the young to adults. Many private schools
bring their youth to volunteer to complete the requirement of Service
Hours as part of their curriculum.
