MARY’S
MERCY CENTER, INC.: MEANING AND MISSION MARY’S MERCY CENTER began its services in September of 1987 with a congregate feeding program called Mary’s Table. Mary’s Mercy Center, Inc. received its own non-profit status in the state of California and has remained in good standing continually. Currently, the organization is staffed with approximately 300 volunteers, 7 full-time employees, and 6 full-time equivalent employees. The organization retains and is governed by a thirteen member Board of Directors, which meets every other month. In 1995 Mary’s Mercy Center, Inc. opened Veronica’s Home of Mercy, a Catholic/Christian long-term transitional home targeting adult pregnant women and their children, 0–7 years of age at time of entry, as an alternative to domestic violence, abortion, substance abuse, and/or homelessness. Veronica's Home of Mercy is a 40-bed home that offers the residents a very comprehensive and individualized program. July of 1999 brought yet another expansion of services, Mary’s Mercy Center, Inc. acquired its first low income re-entry home, a single-family dwelling called Casa Merced, (translated: "Home of Mercy"). In May of 2006 it acquired Casa Merced II. Both of these re-entry homes are an extension of the program offered to the residents at Veronica’s Home of Mercy. Between the years of 2002 and 2007, Mary's Mercy Center, Inc. raised funds for an expansion of Veronica’s Home of Mercy: Veronica’s Home of Mercy II. This is an 80-bed modern facility offering an even more comprehensive program. Ground-breaking took place September 12, 2007. Mary's Mercy Center,
